Goal 86: Live on my own (complete)

Just over a year ago, I finally moved out of my parents house and have my own apartment!  I have two fantastic roommates and the apartment is huge!  Big kitchen, giant living room, big bathroom, laundry in the apartment, dish washer... My room is a nice size and I have a walk in closet!  My closet back home was tiny, so to upgrade to a walk in is a dream come true.  In general, I really lucked out on this place.

I like being out on my own, but I can't get used to cooking.  I hate doing it and it hates me.  I guess I lack the patience, but I just don't enjoy it.  Baking is more fun, but that's dangerous so I don't do it often.  I'll get the cooking down eventually.  I'm just lucky my boyfriend cooks when I visit him!

Goal #81: Model for something or someone

My friend Sarah is an amazing photographer. She takes beautiful pictures of both nature and people.  When we worked together, I used to talk about my love of dressing up for conventions and how I had created a Steampunk outfit, so she asked if we could do a photo shoot!  We went to the trolley museum in East Windsor, CT and went into the back to take pictures in what almost looked like a trolley graveyard.  It was awesome though, and it made for some fun photos!

We also took pictures in the woods at her house.  She wanted to go for a "wood nymph" vibe, so I did the best I could to put together the right outfit!

Goal #67: Do a Cosplay (complete)

I have two cosplays to post!  One has been worn in public, but the second one hasn't been fully shown off yet.

My first outfit is based off of Drachea Rannak's Sailor Scouts!  She takes well-known characters and redesigns them as Sailor Scouts.  Her best known drawings are of the Disney Princesses, but one of my favorites was Anastasia.  A couple years ago, for Anime Boston, I decided to cosplay her.  By chance, I was able to find a dress that was similar to the one in the drawing, so all I had to do was make the accessories!  It ended up being a pretty easy outfit, and I really liked it!  I just wish I got a better picture : P

Even though I haven't worn my second outfit out at a convention, I want to count it because it's finished.  My current problem is I now need to lose a little weight to wear it. Anyway, I created an outfit for Kuranosuke Koibuchi, when he is at the fashion show.  I was able to buy a white corset and the wig, but I made the skirt and jewelry.  I'm super proud of how it came out so I can't wait to wear it!

Goal #57: Be a Bridesmaid

I topped this goal!  I wasn't just a bridesmaid, I was Maid of Honor at my best friend's wedding!

She got married September 2014 at Bourne Farm on the Cape.  I helped her in any way that I could, and had a lot of fun doing it!  Her bachelorette party was at a Miranda Lambert concert - I bought cowboy hats and purple plaid for all of us to wear, since she loves country and chose purple as her wedding color.

She was a beautiful bride and her groom was very handsome.  The wedding party walked down the aisle to harp music and the couple had a candle lighting ceremony.  They were lucky to have a gorgeous fall day for their outdoor wedding, and the reception afterward was a blast!

Goal 42: See "Wicked" (complete)

I had wanted to see the Broadway show, Wicked, for awhile.  I love the music, but I didn't know much about the story, so I had to guess what had happened between songs.  November 2014, the show finally came to the Bushnell in Hartford, CT, so Mom said we could go!  My dad and brother even came with us!

I loved it!  For the most part, what I had assumed was correct, but it was so great finally seeing the show play out in front of me.  The actors were fantastic, the stage scenery was really cool, and the women who played Glinda and Elphaba had beautiful voices.  I'm so glad I got to see it, and I really hope I get the opportunity to see it again!

Goal #41: Run in a 5K (complete)

In 2013, I was unemployed for the summer.  Instead of just passing time in front of the TV or computer, I decided to be good and exercise.  I had found "Couch to 5K" and worked my way all the way to the end, as well as spend time doing other exercises.  I think this is the only time I ever lost weight, but it was easier because I didn't have anything else to do!  Anyway, one of my best friends also was running that summer.  We decided that we would work our way up to being able to run a 5K and signed up for the Electric Run!

We originally signed up to do the run in July, but on our way there (only a couple minutes from my house), we got into a car accident and I totaled my car.  We obviously couldn't go anymore, so I contacted the Electric Run and they signed us up to do the run at Gillette Stadium in October.

The run was a lot of fun!  We decked ourselves out in bright colors and glow sticks and took lots of pictures.  While we didn't run the entire time, I think we actually made pretty good time and we did run the majority of the event.  I never would have thought that I would be able to be a runner!

Goal #40: Beat a Video Game (complete)

Since I last reported on this goal, I've beaten 3 video games!!!  Impressive, huh?  Okay, no, not really, but it's impressive for me!  And funny enough, I still haven't beaten that game I was talking about in my first Goal 40 post.  It might be a lost cause.

Anyway, the first game I beat was Injustice, a DC fighting game.  Does that really count?  Ehhhhhhh... *shrugs*  I'll still count it.

The second game was Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, on the Nintendo 3DS.  I really enjoyed this game because it was mostly puzzles.  The thing about video games is I'm not good at aiming in shooting games, I hate blocking and dodging in sword-swinging adventure games, and I tend to lack patience in JRPGs.  I'm pretty good at puzzles, though!  The story was kind of weird in this game, but I liked the combination of puzzle solving and the court room cases.  I will have to try more Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton games in the future!

The most recent game I beat was Ni No Kuni, a JRPG.  I was mostly interested in this game because it was so pretty!  It looks like a Miyazaki movie.  But it kinda reminded me of Pokemon because you have to capture monsters to fight other monsters.  It took me awhile to get through, but I enjoyed it.  My boyfriend actually ended up taking over my game near the end and caught some special monster and leveled it up like crazy (while I was sleeping!), so I didn't complete it on my own, but I did fight the final battle, so I'm counting it!

Goal #23: Travel to at least 10 countries (update)

3. Italy
In July 2015, my boyfriend and I decided to go to Italy for 9 days.  It was so much fun!  We ended up going through a travel group and saw a lot.  We went to Rome, Venice, Verona, Florence, and Pisa (just to name a few).  I think my favorite city was Venice.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was beautiful!  It was amazing to see the buildings right up against the water, the architecture was just breathtaking, and the overall feel of the city was so romantic.  We even got to ride in a gondola!

I tossed a coin into the Trevi Fountain, saw Juliet's balcony, took pictures with Michelangelo's David and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, walked through the Vatican, tried the best gelato ever, and ate AMAZING food!

I didn't get to complete Goal 92: See the Amalfi Coast in Italy, but my boyfriend and I would like to go back someday so we can both go!

Goal #26: Learn how to sew (complete)

While I am not a sewing master, I've had a couple projects that allowed me to at least get the basics of sewing down.  And I have a feeling sewing isn't really meant for me.  I'm going to keep trying (because it's a great skill to have), but I think I mostly drove my mom crazy with the amount of trouble that I had haha!

I have completed two sewing projects.  My first project was a Hello Kitty apron.  This project was the most difficult because, of course I couldn't pick an easy apron, I chose one that had a rounded bottom with piping boarding it.  Using the piping was extremely frustrating for me!  My second project was a Star Trek purse I made for Christmas.  I found this to be easier (though I needed help matching up the pattern), and am pretty proud of how it came out!

Goal #13: Fall in Love (complete)

Ya know, now that it has happened, it feels kinda weird listing it at a goal.  But alas, it has happened, so I will say it is complete.  This is a goal that is personal, so I don't want to go into it too much, but we've been friends for a long time and dating for 2 years.  He's caring and supportive, he always knows how to make me laugh, and we have a lot of fun together.  We balance each other out.  I'm very lucky to have him in my life.

New Goals!

Oh boy, it's been a long time since I updated this blog.  Oops!  At least I've accomplished some more goals since my last update, and I even have some more goals to add!  Why stop at only 100 goals when there are so many things to do and experience?

101. Leave a note in a library book
102. Find a four leaf clover
103. Solve a Rubik's cube
104. Buy my parents a trip
